Nocturne is one of my favourites and successful projects are my fashion design when I was studying in Hong Kong. In this fashion show is held on the 7th July 2017, “Oriental Extreme” is the theme of that year.
Process
I was working with three friends as a group. In the inspired of this design, it is from Chinese Culture and legend. So, we combine the ideas and we use the china four symbols: Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger and Black Tortoise.
It is most iconic of china North (Water), East (Wood), South (Fire) and West (Metal). Each symbol is also used of the season of the year. After we have chosen the symbol and I pick the Black Tortoise. We think about the main material we need to use. We had to brainstorm on what Chinese art material had used such as Ink wash painting, red colour and light Ink. Went we discover material of UV light painting and it is interesting to put it into our collection. Then we start to have an experiment on it, and it works very well. When purple light shines to the paint it gave a visual to people. We work together as a team help to solve the problem we get. In my Black Tortoise, I use metal to make multiple shapes. The ideas are from a school trip to Beijing of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. I saw an artwork is using multiple shapes to a circle. The Technique I use is Chinese paper tie that uses on Chinese lanterns.
In the design process I had done: Draft, spray the frame to white and colour it. At the day of the fashion show, it was successful to present our collection and we won the overall grand prize.
